We had some friends over for a DVD (Underworld) and snacks last night -- Julian, Gordon, Cheryl, and Gavin. After the movie, Kevin had fun making fun of the glowing "ultraviolet" rounds in the movie. Then Sebby and Gavin got to talking about the outfit Kate Beckinsale (who's sort of the main vampire) wore in the film. I told him I couldn't look like that in a corset on my best day -- not unless I stuffed my bra. Then the conversation took a turn towards guys stuffing their pants after that, and I found out more than I think I wanted to know about some of the guys at Julian and Gordon's high school.
Aya's staying with us now -- it's nice to see her coming out from under Judith's shadow at last. She's so incredibly sweet, even if she's still as shy as a skittish doe. She really seems to feel comfortable with me, though, which is good. I really want her to be happy...if that means she stays with us permanently, that'd be wonderful, but even if it doesn't, that's okay too. She's my friend, and I want her to be happy.
I talked to Kev and Sebby after everyone left, and Sebby mentioned that there are "oaths" that are binding for people like him and Kevin, and even for people like me. So even if we can't get married legally, maybe we can make a commitment to ourselves another way.
I had an interesting dream last night, too. It was in the pagan "convent" that I'd dreamed about before. There was a messenger for Lady Ceara (isn't that Cheryl's other name? I'll have to ask Kev...) who was sent there to take her to her betrothed, Lord Gavin ap Fiona. The messenger, whose name was Garrett, looked awfully familiar, though I'm not sure precisely from where.
Anyway, this woman who looked an awful lot like Aeryn asked me to go and get Kevin, so he could talk to Garrett. I found Kevin and Sebby in the bath (it was a Roman-style one, big enough to swim in), making out together. Poor Kevin was so embarassed when he saw me standing there; I offered to turn my back until he was dressed.
After Kev was "decent," we went off to talk to Garrett. Since I'd been the one taking care of Kevin, I explained that it'd be a few more days before he was up to riding for almost four days. Aeryn and this man who looked like Kevin's friend Kellin (I think he was the "war duke," whatever that means) said that was all right, and that Garrett could use that time to rest up and refresh himself. He was agreeable to that, and Sebby went to show him around.
I caught up with Sebby again around dinnertime -- I was busy making some tea to help Kevin sleep through the night, since he'd been having nightmares about the attack that landed him and Ceara in the convent in the first place. Sebby offered to go with me to make sure Kevin took his medicine; I left the two of them alone after I dropped off the cup... And that's pretty much where I woke up.
Like I said -- interesting dream.
